County's wish for teens in foster care
GREENSBORO - Dolls and trains under the Christmas tree left them wide-eyed and giggling with excitement when they were younger.
But teenagers in foster care - the hardest to adopt - prefer gift cards.
They want to walk the mall or the aisles of a Wal-Mart,

"Aside from being in foster care and away from family, they also often don't get a lot throughout the year, so we try really hard to make Christmas special for them."
Staton and others volunteer time trying to provide those gifts.
The Celebrate the Child project has no budget. What these kids end up with depends on sponsors, such as participating DSS employees, groups and private individuals, who get lists with three wishes,
