The Phillips County Community Foundation awarded their 2012-2013 Giving Tree Grants at their monthly luncheon meeting held Tuesday May 14. This year's recipients include the Boys & Girls Club of Phillips County, the Humane Society of the Delta, Main Street Helena, the Marvell Civic Club,
Chanel bags, the Phillips County Library,
deofa, Teach for America-Delta, Thrive, Together for Hope,
louboutin, UAMS East (formerly Delta AHEC) and Warfield Concerts. A total of $34,647 in grants was awarded. PCCF's next grant period will begin January 2014 and will accept applications through Feb. 15. All non-profits are encouraged to apply. Online application can be made by going to the website arcf.org and following the grant instructions. The Arkansas Community Foundations SIMS grant cycle begins taking application June 1 and runs through Oct. 1. This is a science project grant for all middle school science teachers to have the opportunity to fund a special project in each of their classes. The grant is open to all public middle school science teachers within Phillips County. All applications are accepted online at arcf.org.
Four topics will be discussed from 1 to 3:30 p.m. at Temecula City Hall, 41000 Main St.,
Burberry Factory Outlet, including: “Know the Signs,�?how to identify predatory lending practices; “Educating the Public,�?the importance of homeowner education; “Never Again,�?lessons learned from the foreclosure crisis; and the “Road to Recovery,�?a discussion on where to go from here.

The newest exhibitor of great interest was Charles E. Puckett of Akron Ohio who was there with his wife. He had some really ancient Egyptian things and some very early books with great artwork and colors. He said he loved doing the show and plans to return next year,
